Purpose and Opportunity
The Director, Quality and Compliance will lead CUC Central’s work in quality assurance, compliance, and policy development to foster a culture of excellence across CUC Central and affiliated Centres.
This role is key to ensuring compliance with regulatory and governance requirements, maintaining accountability to funders, and driving continuous improvement. The Director will support best practice, mitigate potential risks, and ensure that CUC and its affiliated Centres remain aligned with higher education standards and expectations.
Major Accountabilities
- Lead, manage, and maintain the CUC policy suite to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and sector standards.
- Provide expert advice on quality assurance, policies, and procedures to CUC Central staff, affiliated Centres, and their Boards.
- Lead the development, consultation, and implementation of the CUC standards framework to ensure alignment with organisational goals, higher education sector expectations, and funding requirements.
- Develop processes, resources, training and guidance to support Centres in meeting CUC and sector quality standards.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement across affiliated Centres and the CUC Central team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with funding bodies, regulatory agencies, universities, and other key stakeholders.
- Represent CUC Central and develop strong partnerships with affiliated Centres, their Boards, governments, and sector stakeholders.
- Undertake additional tasks, as appropriate to skills and experience, to meet short-term operational needs.
Skills and Experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong writing and editing ability and close attention to detail, with experience engaging diverse stakeholders.
- Extensive experience interpreting legislation, regulation, and policies that relate to not-for-profits or education.
- Demonstrated experience working with higher education providers, not-for-profits, or government regulators.
- Experience developing and implementing quality management systems, compliance frameworks, and policies in higher education or non-profit contexts.
- Understanding of not-for-profit governance principles, standards, and processes (e.g. Australian Institute of Company Directors or Institute of Community Directors Australia).
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and adapt to complex and changing environments.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise, consult, and network effectively with internal and external stakeholders with diverse views to shape policy and practice.
- Proven capacity to promote a culture of compliance and continuous quality improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a remote team.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively across regional Australia.
- Current driver’s licence.
Other Information
- This position requires travel and after-hours work at other locations for specific planned events and face-to-face engagement.
- This position falls under the Educational Services (Post-Secondary Education) Award 2020 for General Staff Level 9
